Douglas W. Purcell

Born Seattle, Washington, May 16, 1946; admitted to Washington bar, 1973, Education: University of Washington (B.A., cum laude, 1968); Legal Education: Harvard University School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1973).

A resident of Edmonds, Doug has practiced law in Lynnwood since 1989. Prior to that time, he was a partner in the Seattle firm now known as Davis Wright Tremaine. Mr. Purcell is able to bring his experience to bear on legal issues of high complexity, with knowledge, fairness and reasonably good humor.

He has been very active in the Edmonds and South Snohomish County communities, having, among other things, served for 18 years as the Fireworks Chairman for the Edmonds Fourth of July and is currently President of the Rotary Club of Edmonds and General Counsel to the South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce.

Born in Seattle in 1962, Kokie earned her B.A. in 1986 from Hampshire College where she focused on the juvenile justice system and education reform. She received her law degree from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston in 1989. While in law school she interned for the Honorable William Dwyer, federal judge for the Western District of Washington and served on Senator Edward Kennedy’s staff of the Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee. Upon her return to Seattle, she practiced with the Seattle firm of Davis Wright Tremaine before joining Doug Purcell in Lynnwood in 1993.

Practice Areas:

Estate Planning: Kokie meets with individuals, married and unmarried couples to review each person’s situation and guide them in creating an estate plan that meets their goals in caring for their loved ones.

Probate and Trust Administration: Kokie provides step by step guidance through the probate administration process to help relieve client stress at a time of loss and emotional upheaval.

Real Estate: From lease negotiation and drafting to purchase and sale agreements, Kokie has the years of experience to handle all types of real estate matters.

Business Formation: Starting a business involves many decisions – Kokie has the many years of experience to help client’s select the right business entity for the new venture. She will draft and file the initial formation documents with the Secretary of State and provide answers and advise on all aspects of the business from leases to vendor contracts.

Kokie volunteers as an attorney for the Lawyers Fostering Independence program, a project providing legal services for foster youth who have reached the age of 18. In addition she provides pro bono services for the Home Foreclosure Legal Aid Project, assisting homeowners with loan modifications and foreclosure avoidance.

An avid Seattle Storm basketball fan, Kokie also enjoys travel, gardening and cooking when she is not attending her daughter’s soccer games or karate tournaments.

Ms. Gingerich and her family reside in Edmonds. Before joining the firm as of counsel she was an associate with the Seattle firm now known as Davis Wright Tremaine; Vice President, Corporate Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Seattle Trust and Savings Bank; and a partner with the Seattle office of Hiscock & Barclay. Her professional accomplishments have been recognized in Best Lawyers in America and Who's Who in American Law.

Since moving to South Snohomish County, Ms. Gingerich has been active for many years in the Edmonds public schools in diverse capacities ranging from volunteering in the classroom to serving as President of the Edmonds-Woodway High School Music Boosters. For several years she acted a member of the steering committee of Write on the Sound, the writers’ conference sponsored by the Edmonds Arts Commission. She is currently considering where next to devote volunteer energy and welcomes constructive suggestions.

Paula A. Armstrong

Born Gorman, Texas, May 5, 1951
Paula has been a hands-on bookkeeper for over 30 years and with our firm for almost 16 years. Most of that time, she has handled the many administrative duties of a small law firm and all the bookkeeping. Paula has always been the go-to person for whatever project needed to get off the ground or that last push to completion. Her consistent good sense and vitality have been a great resource to all who work with her.

Paula is currently both the firm bookkeeper and heads up Northwest Bookkeeping and Accounting, LLC, a small bookkeeping firm which provides business accounting services to clients of Purcell & Adams, as well as many others in the community. (link to NWBA website)

Personal Interests: Paula and her attorney husband live in Brier where they enjoy spending time with a large extended family. Paula also loves to read, go for long walks, travel, and go to the movies.

Born in Multnomah, Oregon, September 22, 1970. Shannon brings to our firm 13 years of experience as a Paralegal, with extensive experience in the legal areas of Real Estate, Corporate, Family, Probate, Estate Planning and Litigation. She has been a significant asset in the course of several trials during her career, providing, among other services, document organization, witness preparation and overall trial preparation.

Shannon provides the lawyers of Purcell & Adams with consistent, quality support and has a strong capability in maintaining client contact and information.

In her free time, Shannon enjoys white water rafting, camping, traveling, wine tastings, attending sporting events for her children, and spending time with her husband and their 4 children.
